Footnotes

1/ The highway use of fuel shown in this table was used in the development of 2005 Tables FE-9 and FE-221. The data reflect revisions made since the publication of "Highway Statistics, 2004."

2/ As shown here, gasohol is defined to be a blend of gasoline and fuel alcohol where the alcohol is 5.7 to 10 percent by volume of the blended product.These figures are estimated by the Federal Highway Administration. For this year only, gasohol displayed represents one-quarter of the federal fiscal year. The timing of the change in tax legislation to tax gasohol at the same rate as gasoline caused FHWA to attribute only one-quarter of the full-year’s gasohol data.
