Course Title: Engineering Plan Development and Application Course Number: 901
Sponsoring Organization: International Right of Way Association
Course Description:Designed as an advanced plan reading course for non-engineers, this course teaches students how to read and use information contained in engineering drawings. Topics include interrelationship of plan, profile, and cross-section sheets; horizontal and vertical alignment of centerlines; topographic and property information on plans; aerial photography; State plane coordinates; utility line crossings of highways; contour line characteristics; and interpretation of right-of-way plans. (Recertification credit: 8 hours) Target Audience: Non-engineers
Attendance Restrictions: IRWA Course 900 or 101E (engineering segment) or 2 years of right-of-way engineering experience.Familiarity with use of an engineering scale, protractor, and hand-held calculator is strongly advised.

Course Title: Property Descriptions
Course Number: 902 Sponsoring Organization: International Right of Way Association Course Description:Designed as an advanced course in the use of property descriptions for non-engineers, this course is highly technical in nature and provides in-depth exposure to plotting and interpreting property descriptions. Topics include requirements of a property description and how to read, write, and interpret descriptions by various methods of property such as the rectangular grid system, metes and bounds, point and centerline, and subdivisions.
